      Leta Ramos (1934-2020) American, Oil on Canvas. Signed and dated 1984 on back. Multiple tags on back include title: "Serenade in Blue Part II." Depicts two trees growing next to each other. Depth: 2 1/4 in. Overall size: 18 3/4 X 14 3/4 in. Sight size: 18 X 14 in. #1545 . Lolita “Leta” Ramos (nee Helmers) was born in July 1934 in Auburn, California. When her family moved to Sacramento she attended McClatchy High School, where she met future Pop Artist Mel Ramos. They were married in 1955 and remained together until his death in 2018, and she was one of his primary models for his stylized nude paintings. Leta obtained a B.A. in Education at Sacramento State College, and then taught elementary school children until her own three kids were grown and had moved away. She then received a second B.A. from California State University, Hayward in Painting and Photography. She received awards from the California Arts Council as well as the Wilma Rice Photography Award, and her work is in permanent exhibits at the Oakland Museum, the DiRosa Foundation, and Mills College. She died in March 2020 in Oakland, California, almost a year and a half after her husband passed.
