Folded postal cover franked "free John Randolph Jr." and addressed to "Brett Randolph, Junior", ca. 1802. Scarce circular Georgetown postmark.

      JOHN RANDOLPH OF ROANOKE (1773 - 1833) American statesman and a vigorous defender of states' rights, he opposed Jefferson's policies, the War of 1812, and the Missouri Compromise. A.L.S. 1p. 4to., "Greenwich Street", Nov. 16, 1814 to "Mr. Parrish". In part: "...I have received your very polite & friendly letter from George Town & hope to see you in Philad'a in a very few days when more can be done in the way of communication than twenty sheets of M[anu].S[cript]...". Fine, matted with an engraving and set in a black wood frame.

      JOHN RANDOLPH OF ROANOKE (1773-1833) Virginia senator and representative of Virginia, a brilliant orator and bitter opponent of the War of 1812 and Missouri Compromise. Third person A.L.S. "Mr. Randolph", 1p. 4to., [n.p.], Apr. 19, 1824, to publishers Gales & Seaton, in part: "...Mr. Randolph is extremely desirous that Mr. Gales should as quickly as possible write out his speech that it may go to press. Mr. R. wishes to have it printed in the Pamphlet form & a very large impression of it will be wanted...If Messrs. G. & S. cannot do it they will oblige Mr. R. by employing some other press for that purpose...". Two old catalog descriptions affixed at blank bottom margin, integral address panel present, very good.

      Autograph - John Randolph of Roanoke Virginia senator and representative (1773 - 1833). Third-person ALS, one page, 8 x 10, April 17, 1824. Randolph writes to publishers Gales and Seaton regarding the printing of one of his speeches in pamphlet form. In part: "Mr. Randolph is extremely desirous that Mr. Gales...as quickly as possible write out his speech that it may go to press." In very good condition, with intersecting folds, light toning and soiling, a pencil notation, and two printed descriptions, one from an old catalog, affixed at the bottom of the page and easily matted out.
