Every two years, the Moravian Gallery in Brno announces the Michal Ranný Award, which is given to artists whose work and thinking significantly influence the next generation. However, his study visits to Italy and France brought him to the theme of the seas, where he absorbed the colorful composition. He typically depicted monochrome minimalist colors in an economical square format, and due to his premature age of 35, in contrast to his watercolor work, his painting work is not very numerous.
