    Michele Rapisardi (Catania 1822 - Florenz/Firenze 1886)

    Est: €3,500 - €4,550

Michele Rapisardi (1822- Catania Florence, 1886). Eighteenth-century historical scene. 52X68, oil paint on canvas. "Painter of true romantic nature, he left Catania and went to Rome, Florence and Venezia. Full of classical culture, the painter loves the themes of historical and literary mastera, supplementing it with the study of the painters of the sixteenth century (he especially loved Raphael). His stay in Paris in 1860, and the contact with the French painter Auguste Gendron (1818 to 1881) is reflected in later works that will have an academic character emphatically, pompier taste. Sensual nudes of women and dreamlike images appear in his paintings giving a change in his painting from the thematic and chromatic point of view. So it comes to his artistic maturity, leaving behind the old romance, creating works of scenes, costume, eye-catching female sculptures. Its chromaticity thus becomes cooler, as evidenced by his exercises and his studies on light. It combines in its own way a historicism Morelliano (Naples, Naples 1823- 1901) completing its romantic array with a realistic coloring. Excellent remain paintings where his brushwork loose but elegant, is able to bring forth an erotic and sensual charge, albeit with a strong sentimental address." STUDIO ASOR
