        Sonya Rapoport - California Modernist Beach Scene Media: Oil on canvas Title: Untitled - Beach Scene Date: c.1940s Measurements: 17.75in. x 24in. sight size, and 23in. x 29in. x 3in. overall including framing. Condition: Good condition overall. Notes: This is a very early work for the artist, housed in the original frame. Recently purchased from the estate of a fellow artist where the work hung on a wall in the hall. Signed lower right. Provenance: From the estate of a fellow San Francisco area artist and fellow student at California School of Fine Arts. About the artist: Sonya Rapoport (American, 1923-2015) was an American artist well-known as a San Francisco Bay area abstract expressionist, and an early feminist, conceptual artist. Rapoport consistently challenged the herself and the art world with her creations.
