          Barbarella (1968), poster, British

          Est: £2,000 - £3,000

Artists: Renato Fratini (1932-1973) and Robin Ray (b.1924) Unframed: 30 x 40 in. (76 x 102 cm) Renato Fratini and Robin Ray produced one of the best looking posters of the 60s for this cult sci-fi film. This British poster does not surface very often. This 60s science fiction film was directed by Roger Vadim, and was based on the comic series of the same name by Jean-Claude Forest. Vadim tried to cast various actors in the title role, including Virna Lisi, Brigitte Bardot and Sophia Loren, before casting his then-wife Jane Fonda as the space-traveller Barbarella. 'BARBARELLA' (1968) SPECIAL HANGING DISPLAY | British, Robin Ray (b.1924)

          Est: £1,000 - £1,500

Robin Ray was particularly famous for his erotic and sadomasochistic artwork.  He was a key participant in the publication of the 'Sex Maniac's Diary', which then led him to create the erotic comic Torrid in the 80s.  His style of illustration made him the perfect choice of artist for the sexy sci-fi film, for which he created the British poster and this rare special hanging display. Very few of these are known to have survived, as they were only produced in small quantities.
