Includes maps: Woodcut by Erhard Reuwich, Mainz, 1486; Woodcut by William Pleydenwurff and Michael Wohlgemuth from the Libre Chronicarum: Schedel, 1493; Pieter Laiksteen, 1578; Frans van Hoghenbergh, Koln, 1575; Christian Adrichen; Matthias Merian, 1647; Thomas Fuller, 1650; Johann Bapista Willalpandi, 1660; Johann Daniel Herz, 1735; Franz Wilhelm Sieber, 1823; Aldrich and Symonds, 1849; Map of Jerusalem 1:10000 which was used by the United Nations in 1949. With a research booklet and a bibliographic listing of 100 select maps starting with the Madaba map through the map of Jerusalem of 1945-1946. [12] leaves. 12 facsimiles of maps, various sizes, folded. One side only of the leaf. Black and white. Excellent condition. Within an original, grey portfolio. 41.5 cm. Illustrated sticker with title on the portfolio and the booklet binding. Tear without loss in the spine of the portfolio. Herrmann Meyer [1901-1972] was the founder and secretary of the Jewish bibliographic society, Soncino Gesellschaft, and he was the editor of its journal, the Soncino Blaetter, from 1925 until the organization was closed upon the Nazis rose to power in Germany. In 1937, he immigrated to Palestine where he settled in Jerusalem.
