Notes: Framed in a simple period strip frame. Signed, titled and dated verso. Provenance: From an Oakland, CA collection. About the artist: Frederick Reichman, (American - 1925-2005), was a San Francisco Bay Area abstract painter and educator. Reichman was born in Bellingham, WA and moved to the San Francisco area in 1934 and attended the University of California Berkeley and the San Francisco Art Institute. Fred went on the teach at many Bay Area institutions and exhibited locally and abroad in Japan, Germany and France. Reichman has solo exhibitions at the Rose Rabow Gallery, San Francisco in 1958, 1961, and 1963; the Esther Robles Gallery in 1961; San Francisco Museum of Art in 1956; the California Palace of the Legion of Honor in 1960; and the Galerie 8, Paris in 1953. His work was shown in many group exhibitions including the Whitney Museum of Art 1962; the Walker Art Center 1963; the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in 1959, and 1960; UCLA in 1959; the Chicago Art Institute in 1961; Realities Nouvelles, Paris 1953; U.C. Davis Faculty Show in 1964; and San Francisco Art Association in 1958, 59, 60, 62, and 1963.Reichman's works are held in many private and public collections including the San Francisco Museum of Art and Stanford University.Reichman's works are saturated with the effects of light and color, and often focus on images of everyday life.
