1864 RUSSIAN BRONZE MEDAL IMPERIAL ACADEMY

A RUSSIAN BRONZE MEDAL CELEBRATING THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE IMPERIAL ACADEMY OF ARTS, 1864. The obverse a medallic portrait of Alexander II left surrounded by names of seven presidents and 78 associates of Academy within wreath, signed 'Reimers' in Cyrillic below the portrait. The reverse three seated females holding symbols of architecture, painting and sculpture. Pedestal with a bust of Catherine II rises behind. Inscription to either sides of pedestal in Cyrillic, "In Memory of the 100th Anniversary of the Imperial Acdemy of Arts". In exergue, "Jubilee Accomplished 4 November 1864." Below, "Cut by V. Alekseev from Model by Professor Reimers". The circumference with the inscribed names in Cyrillic, "Empress Catherine II, Emperor Paul I, Emperor Alexander I, Emperor Nicholas I, Emperor Alexander II." Diameter: 87mm.
