Ren Yu 1853-1901 Riding Horse in Tian Shan ink and light colour on paper, hanging scroll signed, dated 1891, with 1 seal of the artist 97 x 45.5 cm 38⅛ x 17⅞ in. ---------------------------------------------- 任預 1853-1901 天山立馬圖淡設色紙本立軸一八九一年作劉繼增、洪錫礽題識款識：歲次辛卯冬十一月，為淡明室主人索畫是圖並請正可。立凡任預。題識：〈劉〉天山立馬圖。素壁猶生六月寒，當年投筆此鵬搏。男兒攬轡澄清志，試拂吳鉤一再看。乙未夏日，澹明室主人屬題。寄漚散人劉繼增。〈洪〉男兒意氣何縱橫，仗劍從軍萬裡行。回首天山經過事，雪泥鴻爪尚分明。乙未冬十一月題奉澹明室主人雅屬。淮陰洪錫礽。鈐印：「立凡」。註：本幅寫天山奇景，少為傳統所涉，佈局亦不循常規。飛巖斜插，對分畫面，天山險絕之勢頓出。山徑及向背交接處，儘細碎皴擦，狀寫草木不生、風沙剝蝕的嶙峋山貌，筆調簡約。天色晦霾，愈現邊塞的肅殺蕭瑟。山麓處飄蕩的旌旗，暗示人在軍旅。羈馬天山，予人背影，既孤寂蒼涼，又興襟懷曠遠之感。清廷收復新疆後，西域風情益為人識。加之清末時局動蕩，內憂不斷，外患頻仍。文人藉筆墨描寫邊塞，抒發家國憂思，乃時風所致，任熊、任伯年等人皆有涉及。惟按畫上題詩可知「澹明室主人」曾投筆從戎，羈旅西北，後囑任預繪此紀之，故屬命題應製之作。題跋者劉繼增（1843-1905），江蘇無錫人。畢生鑽研學問，考訂編著古籍，並有詩詞文集多種傳世。洪錫礽，淮安人。咸豐辛亥科舉人，嘗任鄞縣知縣。 97 x 45.5 cm 38⅛ x 17⅞ in.

Date On 1891 Summerthree Artist Seal. 180 X 48 cm X 4 共約 31 平尺任預（1853 － 1901）靈獸四條屏秦封漢爵、太師少師、受天百祿、豐年候像四張寓意祝：封候拜相，太師少師，天賜福祿之意軸心：設色紙本款識：（一）秦封漢爵，永興立凡。（二）太師少師，位凡，任預（三）受天百祿，任預（四）豐年候像、今春與寄情主人邂逅郡城，握手傾談遂偕歸胥口暢敘留連，為作靈獸四幅意效封人並祝與前繪忠孝節義四圖。取義相似，以博主人一笑，時辛卯夏日蕭山立凡弟任預。些畫作於 1891 年夏鈐印：（一）立凡、預印（二）立凡來源 Provenance ：民國上海大亨潘澄波珍藏備註：任預（1853 － 1901）一名豫，字立凡，浙江蕭山人。“海上四任”之一。擅畫山水、人物、花鳥，無所不精。從任薰、任頤學畫，筆墨初無師承，盡變任氏宗派。其畫純以天分秀山塵表，自有一種風趣。其山水中加人物、樹石，位置衣貌構思巧妙，能於古法中自創新意，別有情趣；花卉根葉奇崛，別有奇趣。備註：潘澄波（晚清/ 民國）怡和洋行總賣辦- 舊居在上海淮海中路1131 號。據上海近代史專家宋路霞介紹：尖尖角的洋樓，原是猶太人的房子，建於 1926 年，後來成為怡和洋行總買辦潘澄波的住宅。怡和洋行素有“洋行之王”之稱，是英國人在中國開辦的最早的洋行之一，也是初步在上海投資近代工業的外國集團，經營範圍涉及到碼頭，碼頭，倉庫，保險，紡織，金融等等。作為總買辦的潘澄波，其氣焰可想而知。洋派聞名，花園里當年有游泳池，網球場，每個週末還開派對招待中外賓客，所以他家的生活場景，一向被認為是十里洋場上流生活的一個縮影。潘澄波退休以後，他的大兒子潘志銓繼任怡怡和洋行總買辦，直到1941 年太平洋戰爭爆發，日本人佔領租界為止。全家移居香港後人。移居美國解放後這棟豪宅長期作為上海音樂學院的校舍 ; 改革開放後音樂學院破牆開店，租給了達芬奇進口家具公司，但是原先花園裡的游泳池和網球場都不存在了。 $80,000 - $120,000
