Lou Pritchett rose through the ranks at Procter & Gamble and was instrumental in the creation of the partnership between Procter & Gamble and Wal-Mart. Pritchett was instrumental in bringing Proctor & Gamble to the Phillipines during his time there. Now retired, Lou is a sought-after public speaker and author of Stop Paddling & Start Rocking the Boat.

Inscribed with biographical information to back of frame. Housed under glass in an ebonized and giltwood shadowbox frame with nameplate. Sight:14 1/2 " H x 9 1/2" W. Frame: 23 3/4" H x 18 3/4" W. Biographical Note: "The younger brother of John Rettig, Martin was well known as a painter and a Rookwood Pottery decorator. As a painter, he specialized in floral pieces. Rettig studied with Duveneck and later was considered to be an authority on the works of the master. Rettig was the president of the Cincinnati Art Club from 1918 through 1920." (Source: askART).

        Attributed to Martin Rettig (1869-1956) for Rettig-Valentien earthenware canteen vase done in Cincinnati Limoges style with decoration consisting of daisies and a small yellow butterfly Cincinnati, Ohio, 1880 high glazed ceramic incised "R-V 1880" on bottom, painted artist's initials and date in slip on side 7 1/8"w x 2 1/16"d x 8 1/4"h Catalog Note: T.J. Wheatley had been the chief decorator and teacher of the Cincinnati Limoges style at Coultry Pottery until starting his own firm in 1880. John Rettig and Albert Valentien then began to teach underglaze decoration using Coultry's facilities after Wheatley's departure. This vase appears to be signed by John's brother Martin, who went on to work at Rookwood along with Valentien.

        oil on canvas, signed l.r.; 24 x 19.5 in. Family lore has it that Frank Duveneck (American/Ohio, 1848-1919) gave the picture as by his own hand to his dentist in exchange for dental work. An amusing, if unsubstantiated, anecdote from the Cincinnati artist and his circle, characteristic of the tight knit, primarily German artist community. Martin Rettig is known to have blatantly copied the style of contemporaries Duveneck and Henry Farny, with whom he shared a studio.
