      MANUEL RICART SERRA (Barcelona, 1913-2014). "Figura reflectida al mirall". Oil on canvas. Signed in the lower left corner. Signed and titled on the back. Size: 81 x 65 cm; 96 x 80,5 cm (frame). Ricart Serra began his training with his father, the painter Manuel Ricart Hostench, and then went on to study at the La Lonja School in Barcelona, where his main teachers were Clavé and Mallol Suazo. He took part in various activities of the Círculo Artístico and the Círculo de Sant Lluc, and produced numerous advertising works, as well as posters and illustrations, collaborating with magazines such as "L'Esquel-la de la Torratxa" and "L'Humanitat". In 1933 he was awarded the silver medal in the Josep Masriera competition of the Sant Jordi Academy of Fine Arts. In 1932 he took part in the Salon des Evolutionistes. In 1936 he completed his studies and took part in the Spring Exhibition in Barcelona, and after the war he made his individual debut in the Syra Galleries in the same city (1941). Since then he has been shown repeatedly in the most important galleries in Madrid and Barcelona, and in 1964 an anthological exhibition was devoted to him, once again at the Syra Galleries. His awards include the Masía Catalana Special Prize (1934) and the Villa de Palamós Prize (1974). Manuel Ricart Serra is currently represented at the Royal Academy of Sant Jordi in Barcelona, as well as in various private collections.
