The dandy sniffing a red flower in his buttonhole is treated in a strange green, yellow and brown palette, with no attempt to be realistically descriptive. The image expresses far more about the artist's style than it does about the PKZ collection itself. It is another clear example of the consistently daring approach that the PKZ publicity department took towards advertising. Swiss Posters no. 13.

Online_Modern and Contemporary Art Numa Rick Paar. 1931. Mischtechnik (Bleistift, rote und goldfarbene Tinte) auf Velin. 32 x 23,5 cm. Signiert und datiert. Punktuell unter Passepartout montiert. Unter Glas gerahmt (geöffnet). - Im Passepartoutausschnitt ganz leicht gebräunt und ganz punktuelle Braunfleckchen, insgesamt sehr gut. Der schweizer Künstler Numa Rick (Walter Rickenbacher) ist vor allem für sein Plakatwerk bekannt, welches zwischen den 1930er und 1940er Jahren entstand. Insbesondere seine frühen Entwürfe zeichnen sich durch eine klare graphische Sprache aus. Mixed media (pencil, red and golden ink) on wove paper. Signed and dated. Spot-mounted to mat. Framed under glass (opened). - Hardly browned and with very isolated small brown-stains in mat section, all in all very good.
