      OTTO RIEDEL* (Klosterneuburg 1906 - 1991 Klosterneuburg) Krems at the Danube, 1936 oil/wood 91 x 58 cm signed Otto Riedel, dated 1936 SCHÄTZPREIS / ESTIMATE °€ 1400 - 2800 STARTPREIS / STARTING PRICE °€ 1400 The Austrian artist Otto Riedel attended the graphic arts teaching and research institute in Vienna from 1927 to 1930; From 1930 to 1933 he studied at the Academy of Applied Arts. In 1935 he passed his teaching exam; Afterwards he worked as a teacher. In 1946, he returned from captivity as a POW. During World War II, the villages of Russia and France inspired him to draw. His intensive creative period began in the 1950s, which involved many trips to Italy, Greece, Yugoslavia, Turkey, but also to the north. In 1957, he became a member of the Künstlerhaus Vienna, whose honours were awarded to him. In 1965 he became president of the Klosterneuburger Künstlerbund (Klosterneuburg Artists' Association), where he exhibited for the first time in 1943 in the Zedlitzhalle in Vienna. He was involved in more than 40 collectives, including in Venice, Bremen, Göppingen, Künstlerhaus Vienna, and achieved a wealth of participation worldwide. He received the Medaille d'argent in Brussels and was awarded the title of professor. Riedel developed a distinctive personal style in the areas of architectural drawings, wood, lino and metal printing and left behind an extensive body of drawings, prints, watercolours and oil paintings. PLEASE NOTE: The purchase price consists of the highest bid plus the buyer's premium, sales tax and, if applicable, the fee of artists resale rights. In the case of normal taxation (marked ° at the estimate), a premium of 24% is added to the highest bid. The mandatory sales tax is added to the sum of the highest bid and the buyer's premium. This amounts to 13% for paintings, drawings, graphic works and sculptures and 20% for photographs and all other items. The buyer's premium amounts to 28% in case of differential taxation. The sales tax is included in the differential taxation.
