When the pointed arms that flank either side of the concentric geometric center are set in motion, each component of the sculpture sways back and forth. Signed and dated along the metal base. With a diamond-shaped wooden platform.

    For your consideration is this kinetic steel sculpture by American artist Charles Ringer, born in Minnesota in 1948. Ringer attended the University of Colorado from 1966-1968 and then left to pursue a career in art. This playful, kinetic, steel sculpture depicts a Native American hunting a heard of buffalo with a large spear as he rides bareback on his horse. The pieces are free moving and spin when pushed. The metal base reads, "Charles Ringer". The sculpture is set on a large, unmarked piece of polished and stained wood slab. The sculpture shows good condition overall with only slight wear to the spinning pieces from rubbing against each other. No signs of obvious damage is noted. The piece measures 28" L x 10 3/4" W x 14" H and weighs 27 pounds and 8 ounces.

    Charles Ringer American-Montana (born 1948-) Metal Kinetic Pelican Sculpture. Oak Base. Measures 7 1/2"x6 1/2"x16 1/2". Weight 12 pds. PROVENANCE: A Private Charleston SC Estate. Charles Ringer was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1948. He attended the University of Colorado from 1966-1968, and then left to pursue a career in art. He then traveled the country for three years with his wife Emily. They lived on the road and worked out of a studio trailer that Charles built. "This experience has proven to be the foundation of my education," says Charles. In 1971, Charles and his wife bought property in Joliet, Montana and converted the existing buildings to studio and gallery space. His work is in numerous galleries and museums throughout the USA.
