ARTIST: KARL ROBITSEK (1891-1952) SIZE: 49 1/2 x 69 1./4 in./126 x 176 cm PRINTER: Rob-Verlag, Wien DESCRIPTION: "Victorious Through Serbia" was a propaganda film made for the Austro-Hungarian Army by Sascha Films, which had been contracted to produce "kriegsfilmpropaganda" (war film propaganda) for the Austro-Hungarian Empire once each month from November 1915 onward. Only scraps of these films remain, but the ominousness is apparent in the silhouettes of horsemen, and one soldier's threatening saber. Karl Robitsek, who as the founder of the Atelier Rob created most of Sascha Films' war propaganda posters, studied at the Wiener Kunstgewerbeschule (Academy of Arts and Crafts in Vienna) and at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris.
