  • RED ROBIN, NATIVE AMERICAN CEREMONIAL DANCE WATERCOLOR ON BOARD
    Sep. 12, 2021

RED ROBIN, NATIVE AMERICAN CEREMONIAL DANCE WATERCOLOR ON BOARD

    Est: -

Red Robin (1912 - 1991) Native American Ceremonial Dance Watercolor on Board. Hand signed and dated on the lower right corner. Red Robin was a Zuni Indian. For a time he lived in both Santa Fe and Taos. In the 1930s, he was employed by the Colorado Federal Art Project of the Works Progress Administration. He later moved to New York and became a textile designer. Red Robin takes a looser approach to creating images. Perhaps Red Robin was responding to the work of Anglo artist in Santa Fe and Taos who used watercolor in a very impressionistic style. The landscape and figures are indicated by broad strokes of watercolor without the sharply defined outlines that characterize most Pueblo watercolors. Artist: Red Robin Title: Native Ceremonial Dance Medium: Watercolor on Board Circa/Year: 1946 Signature Type: Hand Signed Signature Location: Lower Right Keywords: Native American, Indian Artwork, Art; Ref: BD1457
