Friedrich Rosenberg (1758-1833) The self-taught landscape and marine painter Friedrich Rosenberg went from Hamburg to Switzerland in 1778, where he made the acquaintance of Johann Heinrich Füssli, Salomon Gessner and Johann Caspar Lavater. Further journeys took him through Italy, France and Holland. In 1794, he settled in Hamburg. In Altona, he founded the ‘Altona Kunstausstellung’ along with Jes Bundsen and Anton Carl Dusch. Works by Friedrich Rosenberg are on display in important museum collections, including the Museum Schwerin and the Kunsthalle in Hamburg.
