Hörstgen, moved to France 1837, then Holland and Belgium, 1839 BELGIUM , Stadhuis van Louvain [Louvain City Hall] [1848], a silver-gilt award medal by Ets Würden after J.       LEONARD F. ROSS (1823 - 1901) Union brigadier general who participated in the siege of Corinth and commanded infantry forces in the Yazoo Expedition. Rare fine content war-date A.L.S. "Leonard F. Ross Brig Gen Comdg", 1p. 4to., "Hd Qrs 13th Div. before Greenwood", Mar. 26, 1863, to "Brig. Gen. Isaac F. Quinby Comdg Yazoo Expedition". In part: "...I propose sending a boat about 20 miles up the river foraging tomorrow. There is report of a guerilla camp a short distance back from the river at that point and I will send a sufficient number of troops onboard to pay it a visit...". In an A.E.S. on a separate leaf of the same day, ISAAC F. QUINBY replies: "Head Qrs. Yazoo Expedition Tallahatchie [?] River March 26/63 I have no objection to the proposed expedition. I. F. Quinby/Brig. Genl. Comdg". Two pieces, very good.
