He is also noted for his sporting work, including illustrations of notable sportsmen, including Sir Thomas Lipton, founder of the Lipton Cup and Lipton Tea. Ross exhibited at the Bohemian Club, the American Arts Association, and The New York Times. Published by Ernest R. Gee, New York.         Provenance: From the private collection of Dorothy Merle-Smith Pyle and David Hunter McAlpine Pyle of "Hunter Hollow", Far Hills, NJ. Dorothy Pyle was also known as one of the “Galloping Grandmas” of The Essex Fox Hounds, circa 1949. Hunter Hollow was sold to Malcolm Forbes who passed away at "Timberfield", the family home at Hunting Hollow. By descent through the family to the current owner.
