      Alix Roy (Hatian, born 1930). "Hatian Ceremony" tempura on paper. Signed lower left "Alex Roy." Provenance: From the original collection of the Maybrook mansion in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania. The 20,000 square foot Gothic mansion was originally built on its 67 acre property by liquor baron, real estate developer, and art collector Henry Clay Gibson in 1881. The mansion along with its art and antiques collection was passed on from the Gibson family to John W. Merriam, and then finally to his stepson Robert Lockyer, the current owner.

      ALIX ROY (Haitian, 20th C) "Partout". Oil on artist board. Signed lower right Alix Roy. Good condition. Painting measures 12" x 16". Frame measures 13 ½" x 17 ½". From AskArt: "Alix Roy was born in 1930 in Port-au-Prince. He studied at St. Louis de Gonzague and the Louis Hall Institute. Noted artists Luce Turnier, Maurice Borno and Lucien Price tutored him. Later he became a draftsman for UNICEF in Haiti. In 1956 he traveled to New York to work on perfecting his painting technique. At various times he also lived in the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. He returned to Haiti in 1978 and settled in Petit-Goave. He has exhibited in Haiti, Puerto Rico and the United States."
