          Item Description David Roy is a self-taught Hopi carver of Kachina dolls from Moenkopi, Arizona, who has been carving since high school. He specializes in Tewa and Eagle Kachinas, using cottonwood root, Dremel tools, a band saw, X-acto and pocket knives. He produces two to four dolls a month, taking his time to ensure quality. The Masau Kachina is a representation of the complex deity Masau'u in Hopi culture and is associated with death, the underworld. He is an important figure in Hopi rituals and ceremonies.
