This is a pencil and pastel piece by Craig Rubadoux, an artist born in New York who transplanted to Sarasota, Florida in 1945. He painted landscapes and did drawings inspired by the exotic animals of the Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus. In 1969 he exhibited in Tampa and taught drawing at the University of Florida and University of Southern Florida. In 1986 he had a retrospective at the Ringling Museum of Art. This piece is entitled "Family with Bird" on the verso. It is initialed "CR" and dated "12 '65" in the upper left corner on the front. The overall size is 30 3/4 x 24 3/4 in. wide and the sight size is 23 x 17 1/4 in. wide.
