Figural work depicting an Italian style masked theatre actor in diamond patterned tunic and tights, sword and hat, stage curtain at left, background loosely rendered on white ground, work on top of a black paper sheet with overlapping scrolled forms. Framed approximately 30.3" x 22.3".

      Cornel Rubino (American/ New York, 1952- ). "My Imaginary Sister" - c. 1996, acrylic on canvas. Painting depicts three central figures, the back one dressed in a harlequin print, the left foreground figure in a mask and tall hat, and the right foreground figure in a tie and brimmed hat. According to the artist, the painting depicts himself as the 'moody only child with the hat (hence the title "My Imaginary Sister"). The two globes are meant to hold treats for Carnivale, the Italian Mardi Gras." Signed upper left "Rubino". Framed 49" x 37", unframed 48" x 36".
