(18)68, unter P.partout gerahmt. Ein kleines, intimes Meisterwerk! Zum Künstler: Philipp Rumpf studierte ab 1836 am Städelschen Kunstinstitut in Frankfurt Bildhauerei bei Johann Nepomuk Zwerger, ab 1838 Malerei bei Jakob Becker, Carl Friedrich Wendelstadt, Heinrich von Rustige und Jakob Fürchtegott Dielmann. Rumpf gründete 1844 eine Kunstschule für Töchter des Bürgertums, die er bis 1860 betrieb. 1858 gründete er mit seinem Studienkollegen Anton Burger und Jakob Fürchtegott Dielmann in Kronberg im Taunus die Kronberger Malerkolonie. 1875 siedelte nach Kronberg über, seit 1890 wohnte er wieder in Frankfurt.1888 wurde er zum Professor berufen und war auch Hofmaler von Herzog Adolph von Nassau-Weilburg. (18)68, framed under passepartout. A small, intimate masterpiece! About the artist: Philipp Rumpf studied sculpture under Johann Nepomuk Zwerger at the Städelsches Kunstinstitut in Frankfurt from 1836, and painting under Jakob Becker, Carl Friedrich Wendelstadt, Heinrich von Rustige and Jakob Fürchtegott Dielmann from 1838. Rumpf founded an art school for daughters of the middle classes in 1844, which he ran until 1860. In 1858, he founded the Kronberg painters' colony in Kronberg im Taunus with his fellow student Anton Burger and Jakob Fürchtegott Dielmann. He moved to Kronberg in 1875 and returned to Frankfurt in 1890. He was appointed professor in 1888 and was also court painter to Duke Adolph von Nassau-Weilburg.
