The paper has a tear, approximately 5 inches long extending at an angle from the right edge, midway from the top. The color is good with no apparent fading. The frame is painted a silvery pale blue with a brown wood edge and appears to be the original. There is some separation at the upper corners.       Olive Rush (American; 1873 - 1966) Mother and Child Watercolor c. 1920. Signed. Original frame. In 1918, Rush leased a studio for two years in Indianapolis. Described as doing portraits that "had a delicate, flowerlike handling and a spiritual quality", she was much sought after to fill commissions, child portraiture. She also painted murals including fairy-tales and nursery-rhymes for the public schools. In addition to her own painting, she began designing bookplates with the encouragement of her brother, who was Director of the Public Library of Indianapolis. 25 1/2" x 21"
