      Engraving of Italian villa within landscape setting. Signed in pencil lower margin. Draughtsman, watercolourist, printmaker and painter. Henry George Rushbury was born at Harborne, Birmingham, and attended Birmingham School of Art where he studied mural painting and stained glass. For two years he was assistant to Henry Payne and worked on decorations for Madresfield Court, Worcestershire, before moving to London in 1912. He later studied briefly at the Slade School of Fine Art under Henry Tonks. His work is held in the Tate Gallery, in the Royal Academy Collection as well as in the British Museum. Rushbury studied at the Birmingham School of Art and then moved to London, where he eventually became an official war artist during World War I and World War II. Subsequently, he was elected Keeper of the Royal Academy and Head of the Royal Academy Schools. A collection of his work is currently housed at the Tate Gallery in London.
