            Dec. 04, 2023

CARTIER TANK CINTREÉ, GIFTED BY GUNTER SACHS

            Est: CHF9,500 - CHF12,000

CARTIER TANK CINTREÉ, GIFTED BY GUNTER SACHS Serial No. 33500 Circa 1960 Provenance: Collection of Regina Spelman Gunter Sachs, born in Gstaad in 1932, was the son of the industrial tycoon Willy Sachs. In the 1960s and 1970s he became world famous for his extravagant lifestyle. His parties were so legendary, they turned the sleepy harbour town of St Tropez, one of his favourite vacation spots, into a jet-set destination. Due to numerous liaisons with the most beautiful women of his time, as well as his (very short-lived) marriage to Brigitte Bardot, he was considered the playboy par excellence. The watch presented here was gifted by him to the famous Munich model and ‘it’ girl Iris Gras, who was known as the ‘Fräuleinwunder’ of the post–war time and with whom Sachs shared a lifelong friendship. It is a woman’s Cartier Tank Cintrée. This model was designed by Louis Cartier in 1921 and was the first variation of the classic Cartier Tank. Compared to the latter, the case of the Cintreé is longer and ergonomically curved. With this curved shape, it perfectly hugs the contours of the wrist and is extremely comfortable to wear. This watch is in fantastic condition. The yellow gold case, with classic Roman numerals, as well as the cognac-coloured leather strap and the iconic sapphire cabochon on the winding crown make this rare and beautiful collectible a truly exceptional addition to any collection. --------------- CARTIER TANK CINTREÉ, GESCHENK VON GUNTER SACHS Seriennummer 33500. Circa 1960.

Gunter Sachs (1932-2011), Portrait Claudia Schiffer Yellow,´96

            Est: €5,600 - €7,000

C-print Switzerland, Gstaad (?), 1996 Gunter Sachs (1932-2011) - German-Swiss photographer Inscribed verso in felt pen 'persönlich von Gunther Sachs an Prof. Schilke überreicht' Dimensions of the photograph: 105 x 60 cm Good condition Provenance: Prof. Franz Schilke Gunter Sachs is one of the most famous German bohemians of present times. He passed away only recently, in 2011, and left behind a comprehensive body of photographic work; the auction record for a C-print by Gunther Sachs is currently set at higher than €250,000 The works by the German 'playboy' Gunter Sachs caused a stir for the first time in 1973, when one of his nude photographs was published by the French Vogue. Since then, he repeatedly devoted his work to famous female beauties. In 1996, he created this and a further portrait of top model Claudia Schiffer, which is also offered in this auction. This is a photograph of the painting. The 'yellow' and 'blue' portraits of Schiffer make up a nice couple of high rectangular format. The photograph is verso inscribed in felt pen 'persönlich von Gunther Sachs an Prof. Schilke überreicht'. There are some scratches and soiling on the surface. The frame sits a little bit lose. The dimensions of the photograph are 105 x 60 cm and the total dimensions, including the frame, are 105.8 x 60.5 cm. Gunter Sachs (1932-2011) The son of an industrialist, Gunter Sachs became known in the 1960s and 1970s primarily by his extroverted lifestyle and numerous liaisons. His diverse interests brought him not only to photography, but also to the documentary film, to art collecting, astrology and bobbing. Gunter Sachs (1932-2011), Large Triptych with Nude, around 2000

            Est: €12,800 - €16,000

Three digital C-prints on photographic paper, mounted on Aludibond Switzerland, most certainly around 2000 Fritz Gunter Sachs (1932-2011) - German-Swiss photographer and documentary filmmaker Each signed 'Gunter Sachs' and inscribed 'EdA' (Épreuve d'artiste) on verso Dimensions with frame: 140.5 x 119.5 cm (2 x); 63 x 119 cm Very good condition Provenance: German private collection Gunter Sachs is best known for his surreal photographs of nudes and landscapes; his photographs fetch up to 250,000 euros at international auctions This photographic triptych of Gunter Sachs (1932-2011) is one of his typical, surreal nudes depictions. On the left sits a sleeping blonde beauty with short hair in a yet elegant pose on the ledge of a window with a view to the outside. The sky is covered with fleecy clouds, some of which tenderly hover around the athletic woman. A lightweight cloth covers parts of her legs. Right beside, the same cloth floats as if by magic through the air - from the portrait with bright blue sky over into the starry night with moonlight, until it lands again on the legs of the same woman, being displayed at night on the same window sill. With this sequence, Sachs has added a temporal and narrative component to the triptych. The model seems to be asleep day and night on one and the same window sill. In 1973, Sachs caused a stir with one of his works for the first time, when he presented a nude photograph in the French Vogue. Since then, he should devote himself to female nudes again and again. Sachs' works show a significant influence of digital and commercial advertising photography, especially in the symbolic use of signal colours such as blue and red. By using the motivic repetition, Sachs testifies his commitment with the works of his friend Andy Warhol. All photographs are signed 'Gunter Sachs' and inscribed 'EdA' (Épreuve d'artiste) on the back. They are in very good condition, showing only minimal signs of use. The left photograph is slightly damaged on the upper left side (barely visible). The anthracite-coloured frames are a little damaged in places. The large framed photographs measure 140.5 x 119.5 cm, the size of the small photograph being 63 x 119 cm (including the frame). The image sizes are 136 x 114 cm and 47 x 114 cm.
