Perhaps his most notable architectural commission was the design of the (first) Freemason's Hall at Great Queen Street in central London.

      THOMAS SANDBY (BRITISH 1721-1798) Eton College seen from across the river  Watercolour 27.5 x 46cm (11 x 18 1/4in) Provenance: Peter Stafford Hayden Lawrence (1913-2005). Peter Lawrence was a master at Eton College and The Doon School, India. As well as collecting views of Eton, he was the author of two volumes of photography of An Eton Camera. He edited many others (including The Encouragement of Learning, an anthology of articles and extracts from many sources covering most aspects of Eton life to the end of the Victorian Age, and Grizel Hartley Remembered, a collection of letters and memories of a unique Eton character).       PIERRE CHARLES CANOT (1710-1777) after Thomas Sandby (1721-1798) 'The New Building on Shrubs Hill', hand colored engraving, inscribed: Publish'd March the 2nd 1772 by John Boydell engraver in Cheapside London. ''Fort Belvedere was built around 1750, for Prince William Augustus, Duke of Cumberland, a son of King George II, and famous for his role in the Battle of Culloden. Afterwards the property was used by a variety of royals, or their servants. In 1911, the old building was converted into a residence, and was used by Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught. Fort Belvedere, on Shrubs Hill, at Sunningdale in Windsor Great Park, Surrey, is best known as the home of Edward VIII as Prince of Wales.'' Contained in parcel gilt frame under glass.
