Measurements: 86 x 145 cm. Feminine nude starring a young lady with flaming hair. The girl, oblivious to the viewer contemplates a pearl necklace that she holds high with one of her hands. The aesthetic is largely reminiscent of the style associated with the symbolist movement. The symbolists believed that art should aim to capture the most absolute truths, which could only be captured by indirect and ambiguous methods, hence the constant reference to symbol and metaphor. In the case of this canvas, the absolute center of the representation is its poetic content, captured through a beautiful woman bathing in the waters of a stream.
