      Heinrich Schäffer (1818 Trier - 1873 Rom): Views of Gothic Architecture in Krakow, 19th century, Lithography Technique: Lithography on Paper Inscription: Below each are designations. Date: 19th century Description: View through a pointed archway into the courtyard of the Jagellonian University of Krakow, the Collegium Maius. The two-storey cloister with Gothic tracery parapet dates from the 15th century and was rebuilt in the 19th century in neo-Gothic style. The illustration probably shows the condition before the reconstruction. On the right is a view of the Gothic choir of the Dominican Church in Krakow. The view goes from the northwest over domed buildings of the monastery convent to the west façade of the choir building with the steep stepped gable. Both depictions are signed by the artist, the one on the right also bears the date [18]64.
