Ken Schmidt Sold at Auction Prices

Ken Schmidt has been creating original artwork for over 25 years. For 15 years, he opened his home and studio for a summer afternoon for an Open House, which quickly became the highlight of the year for both Ken & his collectors. Currently, Ken focuses his time primarily on building hot rods, his other life passion, and is semi-retired from creating artwork.

Ken Schmidt is a full-time artist from upstate New York. Working mainly in watercolors and pencil, Ken has developed his own unique style portraying the Native American, the mountain man, and the cowboy. Ken travels the country photographing live models and scenery which he uses as the subjects and settings for his paintings and drawings.

Ken's work has been featured on the covers of nationally known magazines such as "Art of the West", "Midwest Art", and "Wild West." Recently, his artwork has captured a more international audience, and has been shown in Europe.

Ken's personal attention to detail and realism breathe life into his paintings allowing collectors to feel and experience the rugged existence which his subjects have endured. "When I paint, I'm communicating with the subjects, putting their thoughts into the portrait. It's almost like they're telling me what they've done in their lives. I get lost, drawn into the paintings, just like I hope people who look at them do."

Ken's works are represented by Lone Feather Press.
