      Jean Paul Schmitz, Flusslandschaft von Hügeln mit Burgen begrenztes weites Tal unter luftig bewölktem Himmel und im Vordergrund gemächlich dahinfließender Fluss, Aquarell, rechts unten handsigniert und schwer lesbar datiert "Jean Paul Schmitz (19)53", gleichmäßig gegilbt, auf Rahmenrückwand Zeitungsartikel zu einer Ausstellung des Künstlers im Jahre 1971, unter Passepartout und hinter Glas gerahmt, Passepartoutausschnitt ca. 20,5 x 28,5 cm. Künstlerinfo: dt. The painting of the Italian landscape around Rocca San Stefano was painted during the artists’ first journey to Italy. Condition: The painting is in good condition. The varnish has been little darkened and there are a few spots with tiny craquelé. There are areas with scuffing due to the frame along the edges. The painting has been skillfully repaired. Small repaints can be seen in the part of the sky. The frame is in good condition with only minor signs of wear. The dimensions are 50 x 65 cm and the frame measures 69 x 83.7 cm. Jean Paul Schmitz (1899-1970) Jean Paul Schmitz was a German painter of Rhenish Expressionism and belonged to the group of the art dealer Johanna Ey in Düsseldorf. Schmitz studied there at the academy and was a pupil of Heinrich Nauen. 1936 he was awarded by the Preussische Akademie (Rompreis) and received a scholarship which brought him to Rome for one year (Villa Massimo). In the 1930s several study trips brought him around Italy and Greece. (msc) Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.
