    Roy Schnackenberg (American, B. 1934) original mixed media assemblage titled "Playmate" This assemblage appeared on page 154 of the January 1967 issue of Playboy magazine, as part of the pictorial "The Playmate as Fine Art: Eleven contemporary artists interpret Playboy's provacative gatefold girl" with the caption, "[Schnackenberg] tried to show the juxtaposition of images suggested by the Playmate" in his wood and plastic oil-painted relief of girl and rabbits. The sun-red Playmate figure is set in a 3 x 4-ft. box, and includes folding directions." LITERATURE: Arthur Paul, Beyond Illustration: The Art of Playboy, (Chicago: Playboy Magazine, 1971), catalogue accompanying an exhibition that traveled in the United States, Canada, Europe and Japan between 1971 and 1974.
