ANTOINE SCHNECK Art for Sale at Auction

b. 1963 -

I was twelve when I find in a closet Retinette a Kodak camera. My parents make family photo with an instamatic, I buy the photo in 10 lessons and I launched into black and white. Among the names Cartier-Bresson, William Klein and Marie-Laure de Decker, that of Marc Riboud becomes more familiar to me when a friend of his son, he offers me to help him classify his slides back from China. I'm seventeen years and within ten years after I move away from my dream child - photography - to experiment with other trades. Architecture student, I learn to control space and the Louis Lumière school to enlighten. Cameraman for television and winner of the Foundation Carat I travel the world to study the organization of work in broadcasting. At thirty I decided to chuck everything and take the picture again.

Because I have always tried to violate the concepts of distance, I directed some of my work to a more radical quest. The report on the black background subtracted the person photographed the supports that are the setting, the expressions, the relationship to the world and to the relationship with the photographer himself. Looking in face reading, given not in its history but its immanence, a kind of revelation. Negation of light as writing, my job here has banned any charge, any parasitic reflection to put his face in his nakedness and his interiority.
