Stefanie Schneider Sold at Auction Prices

b. 1968 -

Stefanie Schneider was born in Cuxhaven and studied photography at the Folkwang Schule in Essen. In 2006, she became the 'shooting star' of the art market and gradually established her works in the international scene. Her unusual use of faded Polaroid films has become the hallmark of her artistic output and is characterized by unpredictable and often bizarre color gradients. Schneider also likes to rework the surfaces of her Polaroid pictures with rather unorthodox materials such as sand, in order to take analogue pictures from these compositions in a final step. Stefanie Schneider lives and works in Los Angeles and Berlin.

3 Lambda prints on Alu-Dibond under acrylic glass Germany/USA, 2007 Stefanie Schneider (b. 1968) – German photographer Each labelled by Edition LUMAS on the verso Image size: each 8 x 8 cm Good condition Stefanie Schneider plays with the effects of faded Polaroid photographs; her works fetch up to 1,800 Euros at international auctions The present work by Stefanie Schneider is composed of three photographs depicting the Brooklyn Bridge in New York. The images are characterized by faded colors which result from the artist’s use of expired Polaroid films as a deliberate aesthetic tool. As seen here, Schneider succeeds in breaking the conventions of classical photography, in order to render her motifs a new aesthetic quality. The works have been executed as lambda prints and therefore reflect the Polaroid style of the artist. Condition: Each photograph is verso fitted with a LUMAS Edition label, reading some indications on the work and an identification number 7518 (8061 and 10090, respectively). The plexiglass front sides are slightly affected by scratch marks. The overall size of one photograph is 10.7 x 8.8 cm and the image measures 8 x 8 cm. Stefanie Schneider (b. 1968) Born in Cuxhaven, the photographer Stefanie Schneider studied communication design at the ‘Folkwangschule’ in Essen, Germany. Her photographs are exhibited all over the world and presented by a number of well-known galleries. The artist lives and works in Berlin and Los Angeles.
