        Madaus - Eine aufgeschlossene Firma. 76 l. With numerous black and white illustrations after photographs by Barbara Schulten and 14 gadgets, such as pop-ups, mounted paper or plastic objects, etc. 23,5 x 29,5 cm. Illustrated original cardboard in illustrated slipcase (book slightly rubbed, upper right corner bumped; slipcase minimal traces of use, bumped corners). Cologne, Madaus, (1969). Published on the occasion of the company's 50th anniversary with numerous funny gadgets mounted-in, among them several cardboard pop-ups such as an egg-shaped leporello fold "ex ovo" with effigies of the founders mounted on a picture of a bronze statue and a silhouette of the first factory building in Radebeul surrounded by ferocious Indian warriors from Karl May's novels. A lamb has green paper grass in its mouth, the increasing prosperity is demonstrated by a dove on a steel spring floating over the photograph of the company's property. The impressive pictures of a dissected mouse are accompanied by squeaking while folding out the plate. A yellow germ-free durex glove represents the firm's accurateness in producing the drugs which jump from the next page in gaudy packages and capsules. The cookbook "Haussegen" (home's blessing) composed by Mrs. Parson Madaus is a special bonus, which lists a couple of funny recipes like "Fliederbeerwein" (elder wine), "Muttermilch" (breast milk), "Studentensauce" (student sauce), "Graupensuppe" (groat soup) and "Eine Theorie des Sauerstoffs" (a theory about oxygen). - Parr and Badger.
