Großformatiger Hinweis auf das vom Deutschen Sportverein unter Schirmherrschaft der Deutschen Kaiserin veranstaltete Corsofest im Berliner Westend. Zum Anlass passend wurde das Motiv eines Einspänners mit eleganter Dame als Fahrerin gewählt. 69,5 x 95,5 cm (Bl). Linker und rechter Blattrand mit Mängeln. Rechts zwei Einrisse (3 und 6 cm), teils hinterlegt. Event poster for the Corsofest (Carriage race) in Berlin, June 1899. Colour lithograph, 1899. Signed and dated in the stone bottom left. Wiskott, Breslau-Berlin Posters by Fernand Schultz-Wettel reach up to 900 euro at international auctions Dimensions: 72 x 51.5 cm Very good condition This advertising poster was designed by the German painter and illustrator Fernand Schultz-Wettel for the colours and varnish of the company J.G.R. Lilliendahl from Neudietendorf (Thuringia) in 1904. The print has been realised by C.T. Wiskott, Breslau-Berlin. Illustrated is a seated woman who is adored by a man. He has given her a love letter and is handing over a bouquet of roses. An ingenious depiction to advertise the product effectively. The full colour diversity of the red tones of the product are highlighted in the red dress of the lady and the red garment of the man. The description ‘Verf en Lak 1904 Fernand Schultz-Wettel 50 x 70 H‘, written in pencil is located on the reverse side of the poster. The thin paper has been mounted on Japan paper. The condition of the advertising poster is good with age-related marks of wear and use like cuts in the edges and folding marks on the entire surface. The dimensions are 72 x 51.5 cm. Fernand Schultz-Wettel (1872-1957) Fernand Schultz-Wettel was born in 1872 in Mulhouse (Germany). He was mainly taught at the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin from 1890 to 1893, until he moved to Paris where he was taught by W. Bouguerau and Tony Robert-Fleury. He married a woman from Obernaier, and moved there in 1914. During the tenure of his career, he held exhibitions in Paris, Munich, Berlin and London. Schultz-Wettel is talented in various disciplines, especially in publishing material like posters and book illustrations, and also in nude and landscape painting in the techniques engravings, oil, drawing coal and pastel.
