      Ernst Schurth (1848 Neustadt - 1910 Karlsruhe), Portrait of a young woman, 19th century, Pencil Technique: Pencil on Paper Stamp: Nachlass Professor Ernst Schurth , Karlsruhe Date: 19th century Description: Shown in profile, the viewers see the portrait of a young woman. Her hair tied in a plait, she fixes her gaze on a point outside the picture space and thus escapes the viewers' gaze. Her body is covered with a cloth, only her naked left shoulder and part of her décolleté are visible. Ernst Schurth was a German painter and university teacher at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe. His works were mainly devoted to portraiture and figure painting and included portraits of Kaiser Wilhelm II and his wife Auguste Viktoria.
