(1829 Bozen - 1900 Wien) Sommerliche Hochalpenlandschaft mit Gämsen Wohl Motiv aus den Eisenerzer Alpen. Frühes, spätromantisches Werk des Landschaftsmalers, das durch die koloristisch subtil wiedergebene Lichtstimmung herausragt. Seelos studierte an der Wiener Akademie bei Johann Novopacky und Joseph Selleny. Schwerpunkt seines Oeuvres sind Landschaftsgemälde aus Oberitalien und Österreich, die er in Form von Lithographien in größeren Alben publizierte. Öl/Lwd.; R. u. Gottfried Seelos, Alpenlandschaft Reisigsammlerin am sommerlichen Seeufer vor imposanter Hochgebirgskulisse, im hellen Sonnenlicht, minimal pastose Landschaftsmalerei, Öl auf Leinwand, um 1890, rechts unten ligiert signiert "GSeelos", sekundär auf Hartfaserplatte aufgezogen, hier rückseitig Etikett mit Info zu Gottfried Seelos, alt repariert, stärkere Farbaufwölbungen, teils mit Farbverlust, restaurierungsbedürftig, sehr schön in Goldleiste gerahmt, Falzmaße ca. 70 x 87 cm. Künstlerinfo: österreichischer Landschafts- und Architekturmaler, Zeichner und Lithograph (1829 Bozen bis 1900 Wien), bis 1845 Schüler des Franziskanergymnasiums in Bozen,1845–47 philosophische Studien an den Universitäten Verona und Innsbruck, 1847–51 Jurastudium in Wien und München, anschließend Malereistudium an der Akademie der bildenden Künste in Wien bei Joseph Selleny und Johann Novopacky, 1853–54 mit Novopacky und Selleny erste Studienreise nach Italien, gefördert vom Wiener Industriellen Nikolaus Dumba, auf dessen Landsitz in Liezen er regelmäßig weilte, mit seinem Bruder Ignaz Seelos (1827–1902) zeichnete und lithografierte er den Freskenzyklus "Tristan und Isolde" der Schlossruine Runkelstein bei Bozen, schuf im Auftrag Kaiser Franz Josephs Wandgemälde für die Wiener Hofburg und für das Naturhistorische Museum in Wien, Mitglied der Wiener Künstlervereinigung "Eintracht" und ab 1861 Mitglied der Genossenschaft bildender Künstler Wiens (Künstlerhaus), ab 1887 Mitglied des Museumsvereins Bozen, 1881 zum Ehrenmitglied der "Société Royale Belge des Aquarellistes" ernannt, Quelle: Thieme-Becker, Saur "Bio-Bibliographisches Künstlerlexikon", Nagler Monogrammisten, Boetticher, Constantin von Wurzbach, Müller-Klunzinger, Seubert, Müller-Singer, Fuchs und Wikipedia.
