      Oil on strong cardboard Russia, 1973 Fedor Semenov-Amursky (1902-1980) - Russian painter and graphic artist Signed with monogram and dated ‘C-AM./1973’ on a collaged piece of paper lower left; inscribed in Cyrillic in black ink on the reverse, ‘Fed. Semenov-Amursky’ and ‘Mai 1973’ in German Cardboard dimensions: 37 x 52 cm Matted behind glass in ebonized Biedermeier frame: 71 x 87.5 cm Good condition Provenance: From the artist's estate; private property, Germany A typical portrait figure before a landscape setting executed in a characteristic range of colors and with simplified forms Condition: The work is in good condition, showing minor bumps to the corners. The frame is only slightly worn. The dimensions of the cardboard are 37 x 52 cm, while the frame measures 71 x 87.5 cm. Fedor Semenov-Amursky (1902-1980) Fedor Semenov-Amursky was born in eastern Russia and began to study and practice art in the 1920s in his hometown Blagovestschensk. From 1925 to 1930, he lived in Moscow, where he continued his studies at the VHUTEMAS (Academy for Art and Technology). In addition, he took painting lessons with A.D. Drevin. In 1933 he became a member of MOSH (Artists' Association in Moscow) that he had to leave in 1946, because he did not meet the Soviet standards. In 1949 he was able to continue his membership. In 1955 he exhibited at so-called ‘apartment exhibitions’; in 1967, he had his first major solo exhibition in Moscow. After his death his artistic estate was managed by his wife Elizabeth Ulyseava. In 1988, his graphic works were shown posthumously in Paris (cko)  Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.
