      Willy Semm, Spätsommerliche Erntelandschaft Kornnocken auf einem Stoppelfeld, unter grünenden Bäumen in flacher Landschaft, stilistisch zeigt sich bei diesem Werk, wohl der 1930er bis frühen 1940er Jahre, wie Semm von seiner ursprünglich expressionistischen Auffassung unter den Bedingungen der NS-Diktatur zu einer realistischeren, eher postimpressionistischen Darstellung gelangte, Öl auf Leinwand, rechts unten signiert "Will Semm", kleine vereinzelte Retuschen im Bereich des Blätterwerks, versilberter Rahmen der Zeit, Falzmaße ca. 54,5 x 65 cm. Künstlerinfo: auch Willi Semm, dt. The present oil painting by Semm shows the Madonna with the Child in her arms and the boy St. John behind her. In her hand, she holds a flower, a Marian icon. The head of the Madonna and her long neck is reminiscent of representations of the Italian Renaissance artist Parmigianino, for instance the ‘Madonna della Rosa’ from Condition: The painting is overall in good condition considering its age. The cardboard is slightly warped. Inspection under UV light reveals areas of retouching along the edges and some small touch-ups within the depiction. The image dimensions are 40.7 x 37,7 cm, and the overall dimensions, including the frame, are 47.3 x 43.1 cm. Willy Semm (1888-1964) Willy Semm was active as a painter and graphic artist in Leipzig.
