    Est: $800 - $1,200

(BOOK ARTS; SENNEBY, ANNETTE AND ZAHRA PARTOVI) RUMI, J. M. On the Art of Painting. Interpreted by Zahra Partovi. With 26 line etchings by Annette Senneby. New York: Vincent Fitzgerald, 1989. Oblong 4to, bound in original black linen, endpapers hand-painted and dyed with original pigments, in original black linen trapezoid box with steel panels set into both covers. One of 50 copies on Rives Johannot and Dieu Donne hand-made paper signed by both the Swedish artist, Annette Senneby, and Zahra Partovi. Dedicated "For Mohammed Ali" on limitation page. A continuous etched line extends across the steel covers, the inside of the box and to the pages, in various directions, mirroring Rumi's parable of the painting contest between the Greeks and Romans. The pages are cut in two diagonally opposing suites to indicate the English and Persian sections and are separated by hand-made paper. Minor fading to slipcase; some curling to exposed fore edges; otherwise fine.
