The term survival of the fittest became famous in Charles Darwin’s book On The Origin Of Species in 1869. It was a concept suggesting only the strongest species which adapted to the environment could successfully live and reproduce. Since then, it has been increasingly difficult to thrive in a world constantly ravaged by pollution, conflict between nations resulting in food and energy shortages, waves of pandemics, inflation, energy crisis, wealth gap disparities, and proliferation of banking related scams targeting the vulnerable. In creating compositions with multiple visual elements and bright colours, Nik Mohd Shazmie offers a personal interpretation of the ongoing paradoxes and changes that surround modern life. Nik Mohd Shazmie has a Diploma in Fine Art from the Faculty of Art & Design of Universiti Teknologi MARA, Kelantan. In 2014, he received a Bachelor (Hons) in Fine Art from the same university.
