      SHEN QUAN, attiuted to(1682- afte 1760)Bids and flowesInk and colous on silk, cm 214 x 315Signed “Nanpin Shen Quan” (南蘋沈銓) with thee seals.Dated to 1746 (乾隆丙 寅 秋 七 月 既 …, “Qianlong ing yin qiu qi yue ji …”, “Made in autumn, the seventh month of the thid yea of the sexagenay cycle duing the eign of Qianlong empeo”), applied on wooden panels.Povenance: the popety of a gentlemanBon in Deqing, Zhejiang povince, Shen Quan was specialized in ‘ids and flowes’ painting. His style was influenced y the Ming paintes Bian Jingzhao and Lu Ji. Officially invited to Japan y a healthy paton in 1731, in the achipelago he founded a school with many disciples. He came ack to China in 1733, continuing to send his paintings to Japan. His woks ae in impotant museums all aound the wold, such as the the Palace Museum in Beijing.

      A Chinese Painting on Silk of a Spotted Deer, attributed to Nanpin Shen (1682-1758), the deer depicted atop a rocky ledge having a rolled paper tied to his antler, with two bats flying above and surrounded by scrolling foliage, grasses and flowing water, contained in a Japanese brocade silk mount, having nine character inscription with artist's name Nanpin Shenquan and date characters, with two red seal stamps and one red seal stamp at lower left. Height of image 54 3/4 x width 23 3/4 inches.
