      沈仲强 秋菊图 纸本 设色 镜框 Size:33x109cm 沈仲强(1893—1974),名忠赉,因其雁序第九,故又名沈九,号霜杰楼主人,字仲强,以字行。祖籍浙江绍兴人,先世到广州当幕僚,入籍番禺捕属,当是宋朝时越中望族沈姓之后,出生于书香世家,精于绘画,专精于菊,所画菊花犹惹朝露,得“沈菊花”誉名。1921年,作品曾代表广州地区与陈树人、何香凝、张纯初、潘达微等人作品同时参加广东省第一次美展。抗战前于广州培正中学和教忠中学执教。沈仲强淡于荣禄,雅与菊称,宁愿饿死也不当汉奸,很有民族气节。

He was a famous painter and art historian in the era of Qianlong and Jiaqing. His landscapes and figure paintings in particular were expressive and lively. In 1781 he wrote a 4-volume book Jiezhou xuhua bian 芥舟学画编 about the theory of painting. He wrote: Therefore it is crucial that the complete idea comes from the heart of the artist, so that the execution of the painting, which realizes spontaneously finesse and density, brightness and darkness, weakness and strength as well as virtuality and sincerity swipes through the universe. Only by considering all these aspects the paintings reach superior quality. Condition: The work shows signs of wear consistent with age. Tears are restored. Creases and minimial loss of material can be seen. The total dimensions are 10,23 m x 40 cm.
