Katsukawa Shuntei I 1770-1824, lived in Kanda Izumicho and went to the Katsugawa school where he learned under Kastugawa Shun’ei. He was a fore runner for a new style of warrior print, illustrating entire battle scenes across all three sheets of an oban-size triptych, a style which influenced future artists like Kuniyoshi. --- Katsukawa Shuntei I: Akamatsu Danjo, Oban Farbholzschnitt Blattgröße: 22,5 x 33,5cm Passepartout: 41 x 50,5cm Verleger: Hagiwara (Aktiv von 1810 bis 1818, Edo) Siegel: Verleger Siegel: Tama Hagiwara und Kiwame (Zensus Siegel) Akamatsu Danjo war ein Samurai des Akamatsu Klans während der Kamakura Periode. Katsukawa Shuntei I 1770-1824, lebte in Kanda Izumicho und erlernte die Kunst des Holzdruckes unter Katsugawa Shun’ei. Er war ein Vorreiter eines damals neuen Typs für Kriegerdrucke, wobei sich die Szene der ganzen Schlacht über alle Blätter eines Triptychs erstreckt. Dieser Stil beeinflusste viele spätere Künstler wie beispielsweise Kuniyoshi.
