Sieck 1912 ESTIMATE °€ 60 - 100 STARTING PRICE °€ 60 Painter, graphic artist, porcelain painter and illustrator - the main subject is the impressionistically painted Chiemgau landscape. From 1897 attended the Munich School of Applied Arts under E.Zimmermann, then studied independently. Study trips through Greece, France and Italy, living in Prien am Chiemsee since 1912. 1905-1913 member of the Hagenbund, founding member of the German artist group “Die Welle” and member of the Munich Secession. Illustrations for the satirical art magazines “Simplicissimus” and “Die Jugend” and also created designs for the Nymphenburg Porcelain Manufactory. Represented at the 14th Venice Biennale in 1924 with the oil painting “Tivoli”. Friendship with Hermann Hesse. 1958 Memorial exhibition in the Rosenheim Municipal Museum. Works include Albertina, Neue Pinakothek Munich, municipal collections of Darmstadt, Konstanz and Rosenheim. Honors, prizes (selection): 1912 Silver State Medal in Bautzen; 1921 Gold Medal of the Hessian State; 1925 Professor title from the State of Bavaria; 1953 Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany; Naming of a street in Prien/Chiemsee. Rudolf Sieck 1877 Rosenheim - 1957 München Winter day Signed and dated (1916?) lower right. Inscribed, titled and numbered 190 on the stretcher verso. Oil auf canvas. 61 x 70.5 cm. Restored. Framed (63 x 73 cm). Rudolf Sieck war einige Zeit Mitglied der Künstlergruppe "Die Bayern". Im Münchener Kunstgeschehen zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts bildeten sich immer wieder neue Künstlervereinigungen. Neben bekannten Gruppen wie der Münchener Secession haben sich auch kleinere Zusammenschlüsse wie beispielsweise die "Luitpold-Gruppe" gefunden. Von dieser wiederum hat sich 1907 unter Führung des Künstlers Carl von Marr die Künstlergruppe "Die Bayern" abgespalten und bis 1929 im Glaspalast in München ausgestellt. Mitglieder waren u. a. Carl von Marr, Hans von Bartels, Ernst Liebermann und für eine Zeit auch Charles Palmié oder Albin Egger-Lienz. provenance: private collection, Austria.
