MARTÍN SIMÓN (Gata, Cáceres, 1940). "Amazonia", 1998. Mixed technique on board. Signed and dated in the lower central area. Titled and dated on the back.

      Est: €1,800 - €2,000

MARTÍN SIMÓN (Gata, Cáceres, 1940). "Amazonia", 1998. Mixed media on panel. Signed and dated in the lower central area. Titled and dated on the back. Measurements: 75 x 145 cm. Striking composition made with everyday elements (taken out of their context, which gives them almost an "abstract" air) and different geometric shapes, highlighted with a striking palette in which a bright green tone predominates. These objects create a series of forms that are the protagonists of the present work. In this work, the artist uses an abstract language, based on irregular geometry, with an organic character both in its outline and in its colours. It is an open style, whose basic characteristic is the conception of the pictorial surface as a whole, as an open field, without limits and without hierarchy. Thus, as we see here, the pictorial forms are the result of a thought-out composition and experimentation, with an image of a gestural nature, not limited to a composition but going beyond it, indicating to the spectator that we are dealing with forms, ideas or suggestions that go beyond the frontiers of the purely pictorial. A sculptor and painter born in Extremadura but raised in Bilbao, Martín Simón was initiated into art by the painter Balenciaga, and received his first teachings at the Escuela Sindical, with the master Solís.
