Issac Sithole Art for Sale and Sold Prices

Isaac was raised in a family with no artistic background, but this did not discourage Isaac from following his dream of becoming an artist. At the age of 12, he started learning the art of woodcarving through other wood carvers in his area. Later he moved to South Africa with a friend.

Slowly developed his talent, he worked as a professional woodcarver producing sculpture. He also discovered woodcut printing, a medium that he excel in. Isaac started selling his work through the African Art Centre where he has consistently displayed and sold his work over the last three years.



He is currently working with colour reduction woodcut techniques. This involves cutting away at the woodblock each time a new colour combination is printed. He makes small editions and uses glowing colour combinations to depict the message and mood of the print.

Isaac is inspired by daily and cultural events in the lives of village people. He is sensitive to cultural and historical events such as the Mozambique floods.

He also depicts animals and birds in highly decorative settings, of plants and the landscape. The Midland Mall recently commissioned him to do a giant mural of his pictures for their food court.
